New Five-Site L3Harris P25 Network Enhances Emergency Communications Across the Community
PADUCAH, Ky. — Communications International (Ci) joined leaders from the City of Paducah and McCracken County today to celebrate the completion of the Paducah-McCracken County 911 Radio Tower Project and the deployment of a new five-site L3Harris P25 public safety radio network designed to enhance emergency communications for residents, first responders, and partner agencies throughout the community.
The project represents a significant investment by the City of Paducah and McCracken County to strengthen emergency communications infrastructure and provide reliable, mission-critical communications for first responders throughout the region. The new system significantly improves radio coverage, in-building performance, capacity, and interoperability for public safety agencies while extending communications capabilities beyond county borders.
“We are honored to partner with Paducah and McCracken County on a project that will serve this community for years to come,” said Wayne Farro, District Sales Manager for Communications International. “This L3Harris P25 system provides the coverage, reliability, and performance first responders need when every second counts.”
Sheriff Norman of the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department praised the impact of the new system, noting that the transition from the previous network was “light years beyond” what users experienced before. He highlighted improved handheld radio coverage in schools and other buildings where communications had previously been difficult and commended Ci’s team for its responsiveness and support throughout the project.
Paducah Police Chief Brian Laird said the department has experienced significantly improved coverage since transitioning to the new system and has yet to identify an area within the county where police, fire, and sheriff personnel cannot communicate effectively. He also emphasized the value of the system’s encryption capabilities in protecting victim privacy and enhancing responder safety.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated a successful collaboration between the City of Paducah, McCracken County, local public safety agencies, L3Harris Technologies, and Communications International. Together, the partners have delivered a communications platform designed to support the community’s public safety needs today and well into the future.
